BIOGRAPHY
Alessio Pierro. Born in Rome, he spent some years in Paris, where he had as an exceptional teacher the painter and filmmaker Walerian Borowczyk, who was important for his formation as he explored with him various cinematic techniques, of painting and photography. During his art studies he participated in numerous art exhibitions in Italy and abroad with figurative paintings and posters focusing on the human figure. In the late nineties he began a pictorial journey defined MoveArt: research on the dynamic movement of the subjects represented in space and their dematerialization. His first solo exhibition was held in Rome in 2001 at the Palazzo Barberini. Followed by various solo exhibitions like "To the light of the shadow" (Montecarlo, 2008) and "Metamorphoses" (Consorti Gallery, Rome, 2011). Parallel to painting he worked as set-designer and director of photography at various independent short films and some theater projects. The last for a transposition of Dante's Divine Comedy, staged in San Marino (2009) and Rome (2010), where he made a series of paintings projected as backdrops.
In 2012 he made the short film Himorogi as director, animator and cinematographer, a tribute to the art and cinema of Borowczyk. In the same year Himorogi has been selected and screened at the VII edition of the Rome International Film Festival, to MUSEO MAXXI. Lives and works in Rome.

Nato a Roma, trascorre alcuni anni a Parigi, dove ha come Maestro d’eccezione il pittore e regista Walerian Borowczyk, col quale approfondisce tecniche pittoriche, fotografiche e filmiche. Durante i suoi studi artistici partecipa a numerose rassegne d’arte in Italia e all’estero con dipinti e manifesti incentrati sulla figura umana. Verso la fine degli anni novanta inizia un percorso pittorico definito MoveArt: una ricerca sul movimento dinamico nello spazio dei soggetti rappresentati e sulla loro smaterializzazione. La sua prima personale si svolge a Roma nel 2001 a Palazzo Barberini. Seguono varie esposizioni personali tra cui “Alla luce dell’ombra” (Montecarlo, 2008) e “Metamorphoses” (galleria Consorti, Roma, 2011). Parallelamente alla pittura ha collaborato come scenografo e direttore della fotografia a vari cortometraggi indipendenti ed alcuni progetti teatrali, l’ultimo per una trasposizione della Divina Commedia di Dante, andata in scena a San Marino (2009) e Roma (2010), dove realizza una serie di opere pittoriche proiettate come fondali. Nel 2012 cura la regia, la fotografia e la stopmotion del cortometraggio Himorogi, omaggio all'arte e al cinema di Borowczyk. Nello stesso anno Himorogi viene selezionato e proiettato alla VII edizione del Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma, al MUSEO MAXXI. Vive e lavora a Roma.
